Crossword Genius

Crazy to take curved road (5,3,4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

round the bend

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'crazy' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'take curved road' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'take' could be 'be' (being is a kind of taking) and 'be' is located in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'to' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for round the bend that I've seen before include "hidden from view?" , "Nuts" , "Mad - crazy" , "Insane or very stupid (i)" , "Crackers" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
