Ross

I believe the answer is:

castigate

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'criticise' is the definition.
(thesaurus)

'players eating out with no end of fun' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'players' could be 'cast' (I've seen this before) and 'cast' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for castigate that I've seen before include "Punish" , "Severely reprimand" , "Take a piece out of" , "Chastise - tacit sage (anag)" , "Berate" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
