Cunning - like boats? (6)
I believe the answer is:
crafty
'cunning' is the definition.
(I know that cunning can be written as crafty)
'like boats?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'like' could be 'y' (similar in meaning) and 'y' is found in the answer.
'boats?' could be 'craft' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'craft' is found in the answer.
This accounts for all the letters.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for crafty that I've seen before include "Devious" , "Cunning and artful" , "'Cunning, wily (6)'" , "Sly" , "Cunning - shrewd" .)
