I believe the answer is:

tendril

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This clue might be a double definition.

'curly bit of bean' is the first definition.
The answer and definition can be both plants as well as being singular nouns.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I don't see?

'taken off fancy dinner table' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for tendril that I've seen before include "Clinging part of a plant" , "Slender thread-like appendage of a plant" , "Plant attachment for climbing N wisp of hair" , "Thread-like part by which climbing plant clings" , "Climbing plant's supporter" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
