Dad takes them for food (for pigs) (5)
I believe the answer is:
sties
'pigs' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both man-made objects as well as being plural nouns.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I can't see?
'dad takes them for food' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'food' could be 'e' (E is an example) and 'e' is present in the answer.
'takes' could be 'is' (being is a kind of taking) and 'is' is located in the leftover letters.
The remaining letters 'st' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'for' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for sties that I've seen is " Places for pigs".)
