Crossword Genius

Danger with mist almost coming to a road (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

hazard

'danger' is the definition.
(I know that hazard is a type of danger)

'mist almost coming to a road' is the wordplay.
'mist' becomes 'haze' (haze can mean a mist).
'almost' means to remove the last letter (most of the word but not all of it).
'coming to' says to put letters next to each other.
'road' becomes 'rd' (abbreviation).
'haze' with its last letter removed is 'haz'.
'haz'+'a'+'rd'='HAZARD'

'with' is the link.

(Other definitions for hazard that I've seen before include "Obstacle, source of danger" , "Golf course obstacle" , "Jeopardy as on golf course" , "Dice game" , "Potential danger" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
