I believe the answer is:
took out
'dated' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'and removed' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'and' could be 'too' and 'too' is present in the answer.
'removed' could be 'out' (taken out) and 'out' is present in the answer.
A single letter 'k' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
