Daughter of Oedipus has left after Insect invasion began (8)
I believe the answer is:
antigone
'daughter of oedipus' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'left after insect invasion began' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'left' could be 'gone' (go can mean to leave) and 'gone' is found in the answer.
'insect' could be 'ant' (ant is a kind of insect) and 'ant' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'i' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'has' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for antigone that I've seen before include "The Burial at Thebes is Heaney's translation of Sophocle's (8)" , "Greek drama" , "Greek play" , "Jocasta's daughter" , "Make drama" .)
