Decorate space in style of something hanging in church? (9)
I believe the answer is:
embellish
'decorate' is the definition.
(I know that decorate can be written as embellish)
'space in style of something hanging in church?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'space' could be 'em' (in typography, a space as wide as a letter 'm') and 'em' is found within the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for embellish that I've seen before include "Adorn" , "Add extra details to (story)" , "Ornament, improve by adding detail" , "Make more attractive by adding ornament" , "deck?" .)
