Defers notice - press have nothing to lose (8)
I believe the answer is:
adjourns
'defers' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their -s form, I cannot understand how one could define the other.
'notice press have nothing to lose' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'notice' could be 'ad' and 'ad' is located in the answer.
'nothing' could be 'o' (looks like zero - 0) and 'o' is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for adjourns that I've seen before include "Closes meeting" , "Takes a break from a meeting" , "Stays" , "Postpones or breaks off temporarily, maybe a court hearing" , "rises" .)
