Delay in appointment for accountant’s job (11)
I believe the answer is:
bookkeeping
'job' is the definition.
(I know that bookkeeping is a type of accountancy)
'delay in appointment' is the wordplay.
'delay' becomes 'keep' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'appointment' becomes 'booking' (I've seen this before).
'keep' inserted within 'booking' is 'BOOKKEEPING'.
'for accountant's' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for bookkeeping that I've seen before include "one of the librarians's activities" , "Accounting" .)
