Demonstrating skill, having left some pottery (5)
I believe the answer is:
delft
'some pottery' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'demonstrating skill having left' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'left' is 'elft' which is located in the answer.
A single letter 'd' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for delft that I've seen before include "Style of earthenware" , "Dutch pottery town" , "Glazed earthenware, usually white with blue decoration" , "A type of earthenware" , "Dutch town - tin-glazed earthenware" .)
