(addressing is a kind of directing)
'speech' is the second definition.
('address' can be a synonym of 'speech')
(Other definitions for address that I've seen before include "hail maybe?" , "Speak to at home?" , "personal details" , "Speech; one's home" , "Talk - indication of house" .)
But I've got no explanation for this one! Could you help me understand?
