Discount event with beer cans at the front (4,4)
I believe the answer is:
fire sale
'discount event' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'beer cans at the front' is the wordplay.
'beer' becomes 'ale' (type of beer).
'cans' becomes 'fires' (I've seen this in another clue).
'at the front' means one lot of letters go next to another (some letters go in front of others).
'ale' put after 'fires' is 'FIRE SALE'.
'with' acts as a link.
I've seen this clue in The Times.
