Divide a bit out, just for the moment (6)
I believe the answer is:
bisect
'divide' is the definition.
(I know that bisect has the is a more specific form of the action cut)
'a bit out just for the moment' is the wordplay.
'out' means to remove the last letter.
'just' becomes 't' (I can't explain this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'for' says to put letters next to each other (I've seen this in other clues).
'the moment' becomes 'sec' (short for second).
'bit' with its last letter removed is 'bi'.
't' after 'sec' is 'sect'.
'bi'+'sect'='BISECT'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for bisect that I've seen before include "Cut twenty [IN TWO]" , "create schism?" , "Cut in two equal parts" , "Cut in half" , "Split exactly in two" .)
