Do a multi-purpose repair? (4)
I believe the answer is:
mend
'repair?' is the definition.
('mend' can be a synonym of 'repair')
'do a multi-purpose' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'purpose' could be 'end' (I've seen this before) and 'end' is found in the answer.
A single letter 'm' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for mend that I've seen before include "Put right" , "Heal" , "Fix, repair" , "'Restore, fix (4)'" , "Return to health; repair" .)
