Crossword Genius

Do some slaloming maybe, circling a Munro

Ross

I believe the answer is:

saki

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'a munro' is the definition.
(H H Munro - writer with the pen name Saki)

'do some slaloming maybe circling' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'some' could be 'a' and 'a' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ski' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for saki that I've seen before include "Japanese alcoholic drink made from rice" , "Scottish writer" , "Short-story writer" , "Japanese beverage" , "Pen name of short story writer, H.H. Munro, d. 1916" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Mail.
