Does it look heavy on a dog? (4)
I believe the answer is:
lead
'heavy on a dog?' is the definition.
'lead' can be an answer for 'heavy' (thesaurus). I am not sure about the 'on a dog?' bit.
'does it look' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'it' could be 'e' ('e' can mean 'electronic' which is similar to 'IT') and 'e' is present in the answer.
'look' could be 'la' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'la' is found within the remaining letters.
A single letter 'd' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lead that I've seen before include "in first place" , "Actor playing the principal role" , "Precede into dale" , "Live" , "Go ahead; element" .)
