Does it steal up and down? (4)
I believe the answer is:
lift
'steal up and down?' is the definition.
'lift' can be an answer for 'steal' (lifting is a kind of stealing). I'm not certain of the 'up and down?' bit.
I don't understand how the remainder of the clue works.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lift that I've seen before include "It's an elevator in USA" , "Raise; elevator" , "remove" , "Raise the vertical conveyor" , "Take" .)
