see through

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'don't be' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with ownership as well as being verbs in their base form.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?

'fooled this is all one can do for the invisible man?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'the' is 'eth' which is present in the answer.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for see through that I've seen before include "sheer?" , "Rumble" , "thin clothes" , "not be taken in" , "Get to the bottom of" .)

I've seen this clue in the Irish Times.
