Don't take legal action for nothing (4,2,6)
I believe the answer is:
make no charge
'don't take legal' is the definition.
I know nothing about this answer so I can't judge whether this works.
'action for nothing' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'action' could be 'charge' (charge is a kind of action) and 'charge' is located in the answer.
'nothing' could be 'no' (similar in meaning) and 'no' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'make' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
