Dough, or what it might become (5)
I believe the answer is:
bread
'dough' is the definition.
(bread dough is a kind of dough)
'what it might become' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'it' could be 'e' ('e' can mean 'electronic' which is similar to 'IT') and 'e' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'brad' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'or' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for bread that I've seen before include "Dosh - a bloomer, perhaps?" , "Baker's product" , "Food; money (informal)" , "Food made from dough" , "Lolly - basic food" .)
