'draw' is the definition.
(synonyms)

'together at the start' is the wordplay.
'together' becomes 'tract' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'the start' says to put letters next to each other.
'tract' after 'at' is 'ATTRACT'.

'a sort of racing driver group' acts as a link.
This may not be right. Some or all of it may be part of another bit of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for attract that I've seen before include "Behave like a magnet" , "Act as a magnet" , "Entrance" , "Draw towards, being magnetic" , "Bring in" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
