Drink and the Queen gets fatter (7)
I believe the answer is:
stouter
'fatter' is the definition.
('stout' can be similar in meaning to 'fat')
'drink and the queen' is the wordplay.
'drink' becomes 'stout' (type of beer).
'and' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'the queen' becomes 'ER' (Elizabeth Regina ie Queen Elizabeth).
'stout'+'er'='STOUTER'
'gets' is the link.
(Another definition for stouter that I've seen is " Sturdier; fatter".)
I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
