Drink I brought in — part of my job (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

waiter

'job' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both people as well as being singular nouns.
Perhaps you can see an association between them that I can't see?

'drink i brought in part of my' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'drink' could be 'it' and 'it' is found within the answer.
'i' could be 'a' and 'a' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for waiter that I've seen before include "One paid to serve" , "Table server" , "One who serves at table" , "Herr Ober (Ger.)" , "Server in restaurant" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
