Drink: last few bars stocking a lot (5,4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

cream soda

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'drink' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'last few bars stocking a lot' is the wordplay.
'last few bars' becomes 'coda' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'stocking' means one lot of letters goes inside another ('stock' can mean 'carry' or 'contain').
'a lot' becomes 'reams' (I've seen this in another clue).
'coda' placed around 'reams' is 'CREAM SODA'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for cream soda that I've seen before include "Vanilla-flavoured pop" , "Vanilla-flavoured fizzy drink" , "Carbonated soft drink" , "Sparkling stuff" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
