I believe the answer is:

drop anchor

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'settle there' is the definition.
'drop anchor' can be an answer for 'settle' (thesaurus). I am not sure about the 'there' bit.

'drive round front of ramshackle old mexican villa and' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'drive' could be 'dr' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'dr' is present in the answer.
'round' could be 'o' (round can mean a round object) and 'o' is found within the answer.
'of' could be 'o' and 'o' is present in the answer.
'and' could be 'n' (common abbreviation for 'and') and 'n' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

(Other definitions for drop anchor that I've seen before include "Secure a vessel offshore" , "Moor away from land" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
