I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'drugs' is the definition.
I know nothing about this answer so I can't judge whether it can be defined by this definition.

'colonists smuggling fish and iron south' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'colonists' could be 'ants' (ants live in colonies) and 'ants' is located in the answer.
'fish' could be 'ide' (type of fish) and 'ide' is found within the answer.
'and' could be 'n' (common abbreviation for 'and') and 'n' is present in the answer.
'iron' could be 'press' (I've seen this before) and 'press' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'at' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Another definition for antidepressants that I've seen is " Some pills".)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
