Drunk fare rings and rides (5-2-6)
I believe the answer is:
merry-go-rounds
'rides' is the definition.
(merry-go-round is a kind of ride)
'drunk fare rings' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'drunk' could be 'merry' (merry can mean cheerfully drunk) and 'merry' is located in the answer.
'fare' could be 'round' (round is a kind of food) and 'round' is found within the answer.
'rings' could be 'os' (O's - O looks like a ring) and 'os' is found in the remaining letters.
A single letter 'g' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'and' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for merry-go-rounds that I've seen before include "Continuous cycles of pointless activity" , "Carousels" .)
