Crossword Genius

Dry-heated in order to lose moisture (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

dehydrate

'lose moisture' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'dry-heated in order' is the wordplay.
'in order' indicates anagramming the letters (the letters in a new order).
'dry'+'heated'='dryheated'
'dryheated' with letters rearranged gives 'DEHYDRATE'.

'to' is the link.

(Other definitions for dehydrate that I've seen before include "Remove water from" , "Remove moisture from, make dry" , "Deprive of water" , "Drain" , "Lose a lot of water" .)

I've seen this clue in The Globe and Mail.
