Ross

I believe the answer is:

towel

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'dryer' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'as far as unfinished water hole' is the wordplay.
'as far as' becomes 'to'.
'unfinished' means to remove the last letter.
'water hole' becomes 'well' (I've seen this in another clue).
'well' with its final letter taken away is 'wel'.
'to'+'wel'='TOWEL'

'going' acts as a link.
I am not very happy about this link. It may be part of another bit of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for towel that I've seen before include "Dryer" , "Piece of absorbent cloth or paper for drying" , "Owlet (anag)" , "Drier" , "Bathroom cloth" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
