Duck's speed when stationary, demonstrating vitality? (5)
I believe the answer is:
oomph
'vitality?' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'duck's speed when stationary' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'speed' could be 'mph' (miles per hour) and 'mph' is found within the answer.
'duck' could be 'o' (resembles zero - 'duck' in cricket) and 'o' is found within the answer.
A single letter 'o' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'demonstrating' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for oomph that I've seen before include "Ginger" , "Get-up-and-go" , "Spirited vigour" , "attractiveness" , "Shows excitement aplenty" .)
