Crossword Genius

Early years at home, complicated (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

infancy

'early years' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'home complicated' is the wordplay.
'home' becomes 'in' ('he's home' can mean 'he's in').
'complicated' becomes 'fancy'.
'in'+'fancy'='INFANCY'

'at' is the link.

(Other definitions for infancy that I've seen before include "Babyhood" , "Early years" , "Early stage of development" , "youth" , "beginning" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
