Crossword Genius

Edge towards beach in Kerry (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

inch

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'edge towards' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'beach in kerry' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'in' is within the answer.
The remaining letters 'ch' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for inch that I've seen before include "Measure of length" , "0.0254 metre" , "Move by small amounts" , "Advance slowly" , "Imperial unit of length" .)

I've seen this clue in The Irish Times.
