Editor brings chaps in to make corrections (5)
I believe the answer is:
emend
'to make corrections' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'editor brings chaps' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'chaps' could be 'men' (chap means a man) and 'men' is found in the answer.
'editor' could be 'ed' and 'ed' is found in the remaining letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for emend that I've seen before include "would appear better" , "Correct/revise (a text)" , "Alter something written to correct errors" , "Modify" , "Improve by editing" .)
