Embellishes 52 cards to bridge player, mostly (5,3)
I believe the answer is:
decks out
'embellishes' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their -s form, I don't see how they can define each other.
'52 cards to bridge player mostly' is the wordplay.
'52 cards' becomes 'deck' (I've seen this in another clue).
'to bridge player' becomes 'south' (name given to one player in the card game bridge).
'mostly' means to remove the last letter (most but not all of the word).
'south' with its last letter taken off is 'sout'.
'deck'+'sout'='DECKS OUT'
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
