'enamoured of one's' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I don't see how one could define the other.

'child eating his food?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'food?' could be 'tuck' (tuck can mean food) and 'tuck' is present in the answer.
'child' could be 'son' (male child) and 'son' is located in the leftover letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
