Crossword Genius

Endured one wind from the north, not a second (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

bore

'endured one wind' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both related to thinking as well as being past participle verbs.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I don't see?

'the north not a second' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'second' could be 'b' (B can mean second eg B-side) and 'b' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ore' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

'from' is the link.

(Other definitions for bore that I've seen before include "Dull person; use a drill" , "No fun" , "Fast-running water" , "Suffered" , "Drill or be tedious" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
