English setter's catching fish for diplomatic group (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

embassy

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'diplomatic group' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how they can define each other.

'english setter's catching fish' is the wordplay.
'english' becomes 'E' (abbreviation).
'setter's' becomes 'my' (belonging to the crossword setter).
'catching' is an insertion indicator.
'fish' becomes 'bass' (bass is a kind of fish).
'my' placed around 'bass' is 'mbassy'.
'e'+'mbassy'='EMBASSY'

'for' is the link.

(Other definitions for embassy that I've seen before include "senior diplomat's residence ..." , "Ambassador's residence" , "Ambassador's office" , "Headquarters of diplomatic staff abroad" , "Where an ambassador lives or works" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
