Enthusiast working for a change of air (3)
I believe the answer is:
fan
'enthusiast' is the definition.
(I know that fan is a type of enthusiast)
'working for a change of air' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'a' could be 'an' and 'an' is found within the answer.
A single letter 'f' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for fan that I've seen before include "Spanish women wave it to cool themselves" , "Cooling device for enthusiastic supporter" , "Cooling device for devoted follower?" , "Devotee; ventilator" , "Devoted admirer or air cooler" .)
