Entirety of laundry hanging at the end of one's tether (3,6,2)
I believe the answer is:
all washed up
'hanging at the end of one's tether' is the definition.
I know nothing about this answer so I can't tell whether this works.
'entirety of laundry' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'entirety' could be 'all' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'all' is found within the answer.
'laundry' could be 'wash' (synonyms) and 'wash' is found in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
