I cannot understand how the rest of the clue works.

(Other definitions for asteroid that I've seen before include "Small rock orbiting the sun" , "Small body orbiting sun" , "Small planet orbiting the Sun" , "Rocky body in orbit" , "Bits of rock that move around the heavens" .)
