Euclidean circle in stone square in Morecambe (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

geometric

'euclidean' is the definition.
(as in Euclidean geometry)

'circle in stone square in morecambe' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'circle' could be 'o' and 'o' is located in the answer.
'stone' could be 'gem' (I've seen this before) and 'gem' is present in the remaining letters.
'square' could be 't' (a T-Square is a technical drawing instrument) and 't' is found in the answer.
'morecambe' could be 'eric' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'eric' is present in the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).

(Other definitions for geometric that I've seen before include "in a regular pattern?" , "Formed of regular lines and shapes" , "Studying figures" , "Relating to the branch of mathematics concerned with lines" , "with great regularity" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
