I believe the answer is:
nail-biting
This clue might be a double definition.
'exciting' is the first definition.
(I've seen this before)
'unappetising habit?' is the second definition.
'nail biting' can be an answer for 'habit?' (I have seen 'Bad habit' mean 'nail biting' so perhaps 'habit' could also mean 'nail biting'). I'm not sure about the 'unappetising' bit.
