Exhausted and wiped out, broken by pressure (8)
I believe the answer is:
depleted
'exhausted' is the definition.
('deplete' can be a synonym of 'exhaust')
'wiped out broken by pressure' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'pressure' could be 'p' (scientific abbreviation) and 'p' is found within the answer.
'wiped out' could be 'deleted' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'deleted' is found within the remaining letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'and' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for depleted that I've seen before include "Reduced in number or quantity, having been used" , "Greatly reduced in number or quantity" , "Reduced in content" .)
