Explained broken pan won't be used and should be got rid of (6)
I believe the answer is:
exiled
'explained broken pan' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are past participle verbs, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'won't be used and should be got rid of' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'got' could be 'led' (leading is a kind of getting) and 'led' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for exiled that I've seen before include "Sent to live abroad" , "Forced to live in another country" , "Cast out" , "Banished from homeland" , "Expelled from one's country" .)
