Extremely insolent stripper! (7)
I believe the answer is:
solvent
'insolent stripper' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't understand how one could define the other.
'extremely' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'extremely' could be 'so' ('so' can mean 'extremely' or 'very') and 'so' is found in the answer.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for solvent that I've seen before include "Financially sound" , "In credit" , "In a position to pay one's debts" , "Creditworthy" , "Having assets in excess of liabilities" .)
