Fabric from tip-top distribution (6)
I believe the answer is:
tissue
'fabric' is the definition.
(I have seen 'Thin fabric' mean 'tissue' so perhaps 'fabric' could also mean 'tissue')
'tip-top distribution' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'tip-top' could be 't' (top of the word 'tip-') and 't' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'issue' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'from' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tissue that I've seen before include "Fine soft paper" , "Cloth" , "light material" , "Thin skin for suites" , "A fabrication (of lies)" .)
