Fabric hoisted across tops of the hips isn’t proper (7)
I believe the answer is:
ethical
'proper' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'fabric hoisted across tops of the hips isn't' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
an anagram of 'the' is 'eth' which is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ical' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ethical that I've seen before include "Abiding by moral principles" , "Morally right" , "Approved moral behaviour" , "Morally correct, in accordance with principles" , "Morally acceptable" .)
