Fair -- yet editor supports worker (4-6)
I believe the answer is:
even-handed
'fair' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'yet editor supports worker' is the subsidiary indication.
'yet' becomes 'even' ('even' can be a synonym of 'yet').
'editor' becomes 'ed'.
'supports' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'worker' becomes 'hand' (hand is a kind of worker**).
'ed' put after 'hand' is 'handed'.
'even'+'handed'='evenhanded'
(Another definition for even-handed that I've seen is " Fair, impartial".)
I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
